Before diving into the digital marketplace, it’s important to identify your target audience. Understand who would benefit from your digital product, and tailor your marketing efforts accordingly.
Conduct market research, analyze competitors, and create buyer personas to guide your product development and promotional activities.
In a competitive market, quality is key. Ensure your digital products are polished, professional, and deliver value to your customers.
Your product should be solving a problem or benefitting your target audience.
Whether it’s an e-book, software, digital art, or templates, invest time and effort to create exceptional products that stand out from the crowd. Consider seeking feedback from business peers or potential customers to refine and improve your products.
One effective strategy to boost sales is to offer limited-time promotions or discounts.
Whether it’s a launch discount, bundle deal, or seasonal offer, these incentives create a sense of urgency and encourage potential customers to take action.
Utilize email marketing, social media, or collaborations with influencers to spread the word about your promotions.
Having a well-designed website or dedicated landing page is crucial for showcasing and selling your digital products. Craft compelling copy, highlight key features, and use eye-catching visuals to grab visitors’ attention. Include persuasive calls-to-action, such as “Buy Now” or “Learn More,” and make the purchasing process seamless and user-friendly.
Delivering exceptional customer support can greatly impact your sales and reputation. Respond promptly to inquiries, address concerns, and offer assistance to your customers. By building a reputation for outstanding customer service, you’ll increase customer satisfaction and foster positive reviews and referrals, which can significantly contribute to your long-term success.
Positive customer testimonials and reviews can be powerful social proof to encourage potential buyers. Request feedback from satisfied customers and showcase their experiences on your website or social media platforms. Consider offering incentives or discounts to customers who provide testimonials, as it incentivizes them to share their positive experiences.
To stay relevant and maintain customer interest, it’s essential to continuously evolve and update your digital products. Keep an eye on market trends, listen to customer feedback, and make necessary improvements or introduce new features.
By offering regular updates and enhancements, you demonstrate your commitment to providing value and keep customers coming back for more.
Pinterest is by far one of the best ways to advertise your digital products. Pinterest has brought in 66% of traffic to my Etsy shop. That’s a HUGE chunk! There are so many people searching for things on Pinterest, so it’s important to take advantage of that!
Creating multiple pins per digital product is one of the first things I do to advertise a new product and get eyes on them. The pins need to have eye-catching titles that make people want to click through to your website instead of scrolling right past. Get my Pinterest templates here!
To make sure your pins get seen, use keywords to find out what people are searching for on Pinterest. Keywords help to get your pins in front of the right users, and you can even break it down into more specific phrases for more targeted traffic.
Think about what words and phrases your target audience may be searching for, and then add them to your pin descriptions and titles to help get your pins noticed. By tailoring your pins to specific keywords, you’ll be able to reach the right people and get more eyes on your content.
Pinning consistently is also VERY important. Probably the most important! Don’t go days without pinning. When you pin consistently, you’re ensuring visibility for your pins. You want to build an audience to reach with your content, and the best way to do this is to make sure your pins are being seen by as many people as possible.
This means being consistent in the frequency, timing, and topics you pin – creating a strategic and organized approach to content sharing on Pinterest. An effective pinning schedule can make all the difference in the success of your content, so don’t neglect the importance of this strategy. I use Tailwind to help schedule my pins and keep my posting schedule consistent. You can also schedule posts right in the Pinterest platform.
One way to get more eyes on your products is to sell them on multiple platforms. Having a presence on multiple platforms not only allows you to reach a larger audience, but it also helps you establish your brand’s presence as a trusted and reliable source of products.
Social media, ecommerce shops and even niche marketplaces are great places to start when introducing your products to potential customers. Not only will selling on multiple platforms increase your reach, but it can also give you insight into customer preferences and help you create better products in the future.
The platforms I sell my digital products on are:
Etsy was the first place where I started selling my digital products. It’s a very popular website, so if you work at it, you can do really well selling on there. I suggest you start your selling on Etsy first since there is already such a huge audience on there.
Make sure you focus on SEO for your listings! Marmalead is the most recommended Etsy SEO product by leaders in the community and takes the guesswork out of getting found on Etsy!
I recently switched from selling on Shopify to selling on Thrivecart. With Thrivecart, you can add upsells, bump offers, create an affiliate program, and more!
If you are new to selling digital products, Shopify is a great platform to start with. The Shopify Standard plan comes with Shopify’s standard features for the point of sale and “Buy Button” sales channels, the analytics page, and the finance reports. Shopify Standard doesn’t include the online store sales channel. Start a free trial of Shopify!
Design Bundles is a website where you can buy and sell digital design items. You can find fonts, graphics, textures, and templates. I’ve sold a decent amount of my products on there, so I would recommend setting up an account. I even made a sale my first day selling on Design Bundles. However unless you are only advertising and linking your products on here, it’s not very lucrative, at least in my opinion.
Creative Market is another platform to sell digital designs on. I purchase products on there all the time to use.
However, it is harder to get approved to sell on Creative Market. I got denied twice before I got accepted. They also take a big percentage of the sales you make. Adjust your prices accordingly.
Just like Etsy, Creative Market already has an audience. Once you list your products, you can make passive income without doing anything else.
If you don’t already, I suggest starting a blog on your website to go along with your products. This is an easy way to talk about your digital products and insert links to purchase them.
Create pins for that blog post to drive traffic to your post, which will get more eyes on your products!
Do you have an email list? If not, start one NOW! Having a list of subscribers and people to email is another way that has helped me sell my digital products.
I highly suggest using Flodesk! Their platform is user friendly and comes with many email and form templates to use to help you grow your email list. Get 50% off your first year of Flodesk!
You don’t need a huge email list to make sales either. However, you don’t want to send emails solely about your products. That can come across spammy and annoying which can make people unsubscribe. The important thing is to provide valuable information in your emails where you can mention your products.
There are a few different way to sell more products right on your own website.

Selling digital products offers incredible opportunities for creators and entrepreneurs to monetize their talents and reach a global audience. I love that I can create a product once to be sold over and over again.
I hope these tips help you in selling your digital products! Good luck on your journey to selling digital products!
