Before I got into web design, I started a fashion and beauty blog on WordPress. I love fashion and beauty and wanted a place to blog and show my favorite clothes and products. WordPress was pretty much the main website platform that I knew of. At this point, I had never even heard about Showit.
With WordPress, there are tons of plugins you need to add in order to customize certain aspects of your website. I don’t know how to code, so I really had to depend on the plugins. I soon realized that the more plugins I added, the slower my website became.
It’s also hard to move specific things around to the exact spot you want. I remember getting so frustrated trying to get the exact layout I wanted. I felt like I was stuck in a grid and I couldn’t get out. It was too limiting. I had to settle with a layout that was just close to what I wanted, not exactly what I wanted.
Fast forward a couple of years, I started my branding business. I knew I wanted to add web design as a service, but I really didn’t want to design websites on WordPress. I knew there had to be an easier platform to work with. At this point, I had heard about Showit being another platform for website design, so I started reading more about it.
This is when I learned that I didn’t need to know how to code! What a sigh of relief! I also learned that you can literally click on text, graphics, or images and move it around to anywhere on the web page. It was soooo easy! That is the moment I decided I wanted to design websites on Showit and I immediately signed up for a free trial to start playing around and getting familiar with Showit’s features.
Keep on reading to find out my favorite things about using Showit…
As I mentioned earlier, with Showit, you can literally move anything around by clicking on it and dragging it to anywhere you want. This is by far my favorite part of Showit! This just wasn’t possible with WordPress. With WordPress, you always had to adjust the padding and spacing around sections, text, and images. It just got complicated, especially if you added in another element later and it messed all the spacing up. So frustrating!
I remember taking a coding class in high school, but that was over 10 years ago. I don’t remember any of it. Luckily with Showit, no coding is needed to get the look and layout you are wanting! There is a spot to add in CSS if you really need to, but I have never needed to use it.
Hosting is included with your Showit subscription! No need to worry about paying another business for hosting when Showit has hosting included. Just another way Showit makes things easier for you.
Showit does actually use WordPress for blogging on the backend. So if you are used to blogging with WordPress, this part will stay the same. Showit has amazing customer service and will help migrate your current blog into Showit’s WordPress system. Again, Showit is making things easier for you!
Showit has tons (I mean tons) of great tutorials on how to do anything and everything in Showit. Whenever I wasn’t sure how to do something, I just searched on Showit’s website and found a tutorial on how to do it. I also want to mention that I love Showit’s customer service. They have an easy chat system which I’ve used a handful of times when I had questions. They respond quickly and have always answered my questions in a very friendly manner! So don’t hesitate to use their chat system if you have a question.
Showit makes it super easy to customize the mobile view. Easily hide elements and images that don’t work well for mobile viewing. Most people are on their phones, so it’s so important that your mobile layout is readable and makes sense.
Now having worked with Showit for 6 months, I am so glad I switched from WordPress to Showit. I’m never looking back. They make everything so easy to use, no coding needed, and have very friendly customer service. If you are on the fence about using Showit, definitely give it a try and sign up for their free trial to find out if it’s right for you. (spoiler alert, you’ll love it too!)
